March for our Lives

Members of the Madonna University community joined the March for our Lives protest in Detroit on Saturday, March 24. The event was organized by Detroit high school students in response to the 17 shooting deaths at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, FL, on February 14. The Detroit march was one of an estimated 800 planned throughout the country, including Lansing and Ann Arbor.

"It was real exciting to see young people taking the lead on this important issue," said Jesse Cox, director of Campus Ministry. "The energy in the crowd was infectious, and it gave me real hope for the future." He added, "The march fits in with Madonna's pro-life and pro-peace stance."

Young Emu-shu was out in the forest searching for his wolf pack. He had been separated when the farmers had fired on them for killing a sheep. Game for the wolves was diminishing as the farms increased in the area. The wolves had decided to risk going for the sheep. I enjoy campfires, especially when my friends and I tell spooky stories. One night, my friends and I were gathered around the campfire, and it was my turn to share a scary story. I quickly remembered a story Grandma once shared with me. I thought to myself that if this story had scared the wits out of me, it would also scare my friends. However, my scary story was not only a horror story, but there was a romantic twist to it, almost like Romeo and Juliet (love vs. paranormal).
